As you marvel at the nerve of Air Force Tech Sgt. Alex Morgan as he brushes dirt and rocks away from the trigger on a bomb big enough to destroy an armored vehicle ask yourself this question: Where was videographer Rob Curtis standing? And if you listen carefully you may hear me in the background shouting: "Rob, get away from there! That camera isn't insured."

So many thoughts - fascinating process and equipment...how fast were their hearts pounding...how to change the hearts of those who plant the explosives...and much more...
ReplyDeleteWhat a story! Thanks for this great work Robert. I look forward to discussing this story with you when you return to Richmond. Best, Roberta Oster Sachs
ReplyDeleteExcellent coverage by your camera-man.
ReplyDeleteI've just read the article describing Ssgt. Kesterson's rescue of the Marine from a burning vehicle hit by an IED on April 14. It was on the 1st Marine Div. web-site. Can you do a post on that, with update on condition of the man he saved? My son alerted me to Kesterson's heroism on that date.
Thought you'd be home by now.
ReplyDeleteMy son was in that 7 ton along with his buddy's. Yes they all walked away and we are very greatful for that. However he has TBI from that blast loss of hearing and balance issues. I think one of his friends was already discharged. Thank you for bring us there. He doesn't talk about it and now we have some sort of closure. Thanks Robert.
