Arrived at the Marine base here today. Flew on an Osprey, which is pretty amazing because looking at I was convinced it couldn't possibly fly.
The Marines here are great -- hard working, gracious and funny. And living conditions are better than we had hoped. We have a real room with bunk beds. We're looking foward to the next five weeks here.

So far, I have seen the opening video of troops leaving home, have a panoramic photo of Naw Zad, have watched battle footage from Naw Zad on You Tube, and have located your current position on the map. I continue to read my little remaindered book on Afghanistan. There will be more to learn. Knowing you is always an educational experience. Keep teaching, Professor.
